HARRISONBURG, Va.– Georgia Southern volleyball (17-6, 7-5 Sun Belt) dropped the second contest at James Madison (17-6, 10-2 SBC), losing 3-1 on Friday.

"Disappointing result tonight, we did a lot of really good things to put ourselves in positions to win but couldn't quite execute in some key moments," head coach Chad Willis said. "Overall, l loved the battle and resiliency our group showed on the road against a quality team; lots of good nuggets we can take away that will help us down the stretch heading into the conference tournament."

In a hard-fought first set, it was the Dukes who emerged on top, winning 25-23. Deadlocked at 23, JMU used back-to-back kills to win the set.

The Eagles stormed to a 6-1 run midway through the second stanza and never took the foot off the gas, winning 25-14. Reagan Barth came to life, reaching seven kills in the frame.

Georgia Southern made each of the final two sets close, but ultimately could not close the deal, falling 25-20 and 25-23. 

GS held a 19-14 lead in the third set, but a 6-0 run by JMU gave the team a lead it would never look back from. 

Barth led the Eagles with 14 kills in the four sets, stretching her total to a team-best 34 on the weekend. Chamblee Russell also had 13, tying with Barth for 34 kills overall in the two games. Barth also recorded a double-double with 12 digs.

Ashlyn Lovett moved up another spot into sixth on the all-time digs list with 14 in the match, surpassing Kate Van Dyke.

The Eagles will be back in action in a week, taking on Appalachian State for their senior day on November 3.
