ORLANDO, Fla. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis fell 2-5 to the UCF Knights on Sunday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. Both squads are now 1-1 on the season.

The afternoon began in the doubles matches, where Aaron Williams and Alexandros Roumpis fell at the No. 2 position, 6-3. At the No. 3 position, Jacob Mitchell and Laurent Julia Calac fell 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Knights. Pol del Castillo Masich and Judson Blair were locked in a battle with the 28th-ranked duo at the No. 1 position, but the match was called when the set was at 5-4 in favor of the Eagles.

In the singles matches, Dimitris Paliouras was defeated at the No. 2 position, 6-3, 6-3, to give the Knights a 2-0 lead on the day. Williams at the No. 4 position defeated his opponent in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, to get the Eagles on the board and cut the Knights lead in half. However, the Knights would clinch the match after taking victory at the No. 6 and No. 3 positions. Blair at the No. 5 position would take the victory, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, to get the Eagles another point, but ultimately the Eagles woulf fall 2-5 against UCF.

The Eagles will host The Citadel for the home opener and North Florida on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29, respectively. Both matches will begin at 10 am.
