Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team opened the season with a 6-1 road win over the Flagler Saints on Friday, Jan. 20. Georgia Southern moves to 1-0 on the season while the match was an exhibition for the Division II preseason No. 4 Saints.

The afternoon started with doubles matches, where Pol del Castillo Masich and Judson Blair picked up the 6-3 win in the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 position, Alexandros Roumpis and Aaron Williams earned a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point for the Eagles. Jacob Mitchell and Pierre Mouesca competed at the No. 3 position, but fell 3-6.

In singles, del Castillo took the victory at the No. 1 position in two sets, winning 7-5, 6-4. At the No. 2 position, Dimitris Paliouras earned the victory, 6-1, 6-3, to put the Eagles up at 3-0. Mouesca, at the No. 3 position, defeated his opponent, 7-5, 6-3, to clinch the victory for the Eagles at 4-0. At the No. 5 position, Blair had a strong performance to defeat his opponent, 7-5, 6-1. Roumpis at the No. 6 position won both sets with matching 7-5, 7-5 scores. The lone point for the Saints came at the No. 4 position where Williams was defeated, 2-6, 2-6.

The Eagles will take on the UCF Knights from the USTA Campus in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday, Jan. 22. First serve is set for 2 pm.
