STATESBORO - Six new out-of-state players have signed to play men's soccer at Georgia Southern starting in the fall, GS men's soccer head coach
John Murphy announced today.
JACOB GOMPERS | MIDFIELDER | MECHANICSVILLE, VIRGINIA
Jacob Gompers played soccer for four years at Atlee High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Gompers was a multi-sport athlete, winning letters in basketball and lacrosse. Gompers played club soccer for the Richmond Strikers under head coach Corey Sindle, where they won two Virginia State Cup Championships in 2018 and 2019 and came in first place in the Virginia Developmental Academy College Showcase in both 2020 and 2022. Gompers intends to major in Business Management/Entrepreneurship at GS.

JACK IRELAND | FORWARD | LAKE MARY, FLORIDA
Jack Ireland played all four years of high school soccer at Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida, under head coach Tyler Weston. Ireland played on the varsity team and was a state champion in 2018. He was also named All-Conference Player of the Year, Orlando Sentinel Player of the Year, and Class 7A Florida Player of the Year, all in 2021. He scored 24 goals and racked up 13 assists in 2021. Ireland was also a member of the Orlando City MLS Next club team, coached by Kevin Ireland. Ireland intends to major in Construction Management at GS.

NOAH ESCOBAR | CENTER-MID | JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
Noah Escobar attended high school at Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island, Florida. Escobar played club soccer for Jacksonville FC under head coach Roomy Krizanovic, where he was a team captain and scored one goal with two assists. Escobar has not yet announced his intended major at GS.

His composure and use of the ball allows him to link well and build attacks while his energy and combative nature adds a very strong defensive component to his overall game. We feel Noah has the ability to come in and contribute as a freshman."
KONNOR HERRMANN | DEFENDER | GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA
Konnor Herrmann played and lettered in all four years at Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Florida, under head coach Basil Benjamin. Herrmann was a team captain, was named the 2020 Gainesville Sun Player of the Year, and had three Gainesville Sun All-Area First Team Defender honors. He also played for Leg-A-Z Soccer Academy under head coach Darnell Bernier, where he was a team captain and three-time Florida ODP State Team Player. Herrmann intends to major in Exercise Science at GS.

On the field, he is a classic ball winning defender who can also connect effectively in the attack. His size and athleticism will allow him to be played wide or centrally in our back line."
KEEYEN DEANE | CENTERBACK | MIRAMAR, FLORIDA
Keeyen Deane went to high school at the Somerset Academy Arts Conservatory in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and played soccer for the Miramar United Elite under head coach Marc Lue Young. With the MUE, he was named an ECNL National Selection player, a Florida State Cup Semi-Finalist, and has three clean sheets on the season, scoring two goals of his own with two assists. Deane intends to major in Kinesiology at GS.

He can play anywhere across the backline, and is also a threat on attacking set pieces. We believe Keeyan has the ability and the mindset to be a top player at this level."
JORDAN REGIS | WINGER | NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK
Jordan Regis played soccer for one year at New Rochelle High School under head coach Joharan Garcia in New Rochelle, NY. He also played at the club level for the Westchester Flames under head coach Marcos Monteagudo. Regis intends to major in sport management at GS.

He has spent the past year playing in Spain during his gap year and this experience has accelerated his growth on and off the field. His ceiling is quite high and we feel his future will be bright with us."
