NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Sun Belt Conference has announced that Georgia Southern pitcher
Jaylen Paden has been named the SBC Pitcher of the Week.
Paden had a career day on the mound when he pitched on Friday against Georgia State. Paden went for six innings, which tied a career high that he had already set this season (set against William and Mary), and fanned nine Georgia State batters, setting a new career high for strikeouts in one game. Paden only allowed for two hits in his 98-pitch night and had a 0.00 ERA, not allowing a run to come home and only allowing batters to hit .111 against him. He picked up his fourth win of the season, now sitting at 4-0, and led the Eagles to the series clinching victory over Georgia State, 11-1. The Eagles would then sweep the first-place Panthers on Saturday with a 10-8 comeback victory.
The 25th-ranked Eagles turn their attention to a four-game road trip, starting on Wednesday, April 20, when they travel to Tallahassee, Florida, to take on the Florida State Seminoles. First pitch is set for 7 pm ET. After that, the Eagles will fly to Mobile, Alabama, for a three game Sun Belt Conference series against the South Alabama Jaguars. The series begins on Friday, April 22.
