Bats Come Alive in Eagles 13-7 Win Over Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  The Georgia Southern baseball team picked up a 13-7 win against the Jacksonville Dolphins on the road Tuesday night at John Sessions Stadium. The night saw the Eagles record 12 hits and 13 RBIs, while picking up the season's first home run.

The Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning when Noah Ledford hit the Eagles' first home run of the year, driving in Jaylen Paden to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead early on.

The Dolphins would respond in the bottom of the second, where a solo home run from Blake DeLamielleur cut the deficit in half. The score would stay at 2-1 until the bottom of the fourth, where DeLamielleur hit his second home run in as many at bats to tie the game at 2-2. Jacksonville's Ethan Campbell would homer shortly after to give the Dolphins a 3-2 lead after the fourth inning.

In the top of the sixth, with Jason Swan on second and Paden on third, Christian Avant would hit a sacrifice fly to left field to drive Paden in, tying the game at 3-3. Ledford would get on base from a walk, and Noah Searcy would double to right field, bringing Swan home and give the Eagles a 4-3 lead.

The top of the seventh saw several runs for the Eagles. The first score of the inning would come from a bases loaded Ledford walk, which would score Jarrett Brown. Searcy would double to right field to drive in Avant and Paden for the two-RBI double, bringing the lead to 7-3. JP Tighe came in for Kyler Hultgren and hit a bases-clearing, three-RBI double, scoring Austin Thompson, Searcy and Ledford. The inning would end as Tighe was tagged out at third, ending the top of the seventh at 10-3.

The Dolphins would hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, cutting the Eagles' lead to 10-7. In the top of the ninth, Austin Thompson hit a two-RBI single and advanced to second on the throw, playing Avant and Swan to bring the Eagles lead to 12-7.
