The National Team Open Program is scheduled for Feb. 25-27.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern libero Ashlyn Lovett will compete in the USA Volleyball National Team Tryout Feb. 25-27 at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Lovett is among more than 200 USA National Team hopefuls who will train in the Women's National Team Open Program, part of the selection process for the U.S. Women's National Team, USA Volleyball's NCAA Elite Athlete List and the 2022 U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team.
"We're excited for Ashlyn's opportunity to participate at this year's USA Volleyball Women's National Team Open Program," said Georgia Southern coach Chad Willis. "This will be a unique and impactful experience for Ashlyn as she gets to showcase her abilities while learning alongside some of the country's elite coaches and student-athletes. I know Ashlyn is grateful for the opportunity and will be a wonderful ambassador for Georgia Southern."
Lovett became the first Eagle to win Freshman of the Year honors in program history as she was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year after ranking fourth in the league in digs – first among freshmen - in conference matches with 4.72 per set. She totaled double-figure digs in 15 of 16 league contests and 22 matches overall and posted 20-plus digs eight times last season.
