Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Graham Cooper

Wildcats Clip Eagles, 6-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Georgia Southern men's soccer team fell on the road to the third-ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday night at the Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The Eagles fall to 1-10-0 while the Wildcats move to 8-0-2 on the season.

The Wildcats netted two goals in the first half of action as the Eagles defense held the attack off. The Wildcats would go on to score the final four goals in the second half for the 6-0 decision. Dagoberto Romero set a new career-high with nine saves on the night, bringing him to 32 on the season.

This was the first time in the series history that the Wildcats have beaten the Eagles. Both teams now have a 1-1-1 record against each other.

"Obviously, we're disappointed," said head coach John Murphy. "That's a top team, but that's a team we expect to compete against moving forward. We can talk about learning experiences, developing and growing, but there's game management that needs to be implemented. I though on transitions, we were really struggling to exploit their shape because they were very exposed in transition moments."

"We had some situations where would get into wide areas and give them problems, but it wasn't enough. If you give teams like that opportunity after opportunity, the game really starts to open up. We're going to use the week and travel back to Statesboro to get ready for JMU."
