STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football squad held its final full scrimmage of the preseason Saturday at Allen E. Paulson Stadium, a 60-play affair that was dominated by the defense.
The defense didn't allow on a score on the day and was highlighted by three interceptions.
Chase Dial-Watson intercepted a
Sam Kenerson pass that would have likely gone 60 yards to the house if not blown dead.
Marques Watson-Trent intercepted a
Cam Ransom pass late in the scrimmage and
Derrick Canteen ended the scrimmage with an interception of Kenerson.
The offense tallied 261 yards of total offense, 168 on the 93 through the air. Kenerson had 57 yards rushing to lead the way while A.J. Brown (47 yards) and
Terron Dixon II (40 yards) had nice days. Ransom was 8-for-14 passing with an interception while
Amare Jones was 5 for 5 through the air.
Justin Tomlin was 3 for 5 in limited work. Running back
Logan Wright had five receptions out of the backfield while
Khaleb Hood had three catches for 20 yards.
After the scrimmage, Lunsford announced that super senior
Todd Bradley-Glenn tore the biceps muscle in his left arm in last Saturday's scrimmage and will miss the senior. Lunsford said he knows Bradley-Glenn will continue to be a leader for the team, but also knows he'll be successful in whatever he does after he leaves Georgia Southern.
J.D. King was held out of the scrimmage for precautionary reasons. The fifth year senior tore his ACL last November and is cleared for full practice, but is being rested as he "has nothing to prove" according to Lunsford.
The Eagles will now turn their full attention to the season opener against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 4 at Paulson Stadium. Tickets can be purchased at
