STATESBORO – This summer, each Georgia Southern head coach will be featured in a new series — "Know The Coach." Each week, a different head coach has been profiled where you can get to know them outside the competition field. Week six features rifle coach
Sandra Worman. Check out what she had to say…
Born: Jan. 3, 1970 in Alamogordo, NM
Family: Robert MacNeil, husband and Christel Worman, mother. (Who moved to Statesboro to be near us. Thank you, Mommy!)Â I am both an only child and childfree.
Alma Mater: St. John's University in Jamaica, NY
Last series I binge-watched on a streaming service: the Battlestar Galactica reboot, followed by the original series.
Who's on my playlist: Control Machete, Millonario, Cypress Hill, AKWID, Alice in Chains, Tool, Led Zeppelin
What I drive: A 2001 Toyota Tacoma and a Suzuki DRZ 400 Super Moto Â
Favorite flicks: Anything Sci fi and the original Ben Hur
What I'm reading: The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown
Worst habit: Multitasking
On the wall behind me: coaching/shooting/when-I- was-an-athlete bona fides.
In my line of sight: a bird painting by Rose Kramer, plaques with encouraging sayings, NCAA rifle event posters and the ammo inventory manifest. With a team of 9, the ammo stores go quickly!
Would love to trade places with for a day with: No one, because "Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches." I'm not interested in experiencing someone else's blisters. Â
First job: Baskin Robbins
Talent I'd like to have: Mindfulness, but I can't resist the siren song of multitasking.
Favorite meal: Eggplant parmesan
Favorite athletes to watch in other sports: Simone Biles, Serena Williams
Favorite Summer Olympics sport: 10-meter air rifle and 50-meter 3-position smallbore. The NCAA system is a primary training ground for US Olympians, so there's a lot of familiar names and faces.
One coaching peer I truly respect: Anyone who coaches for the long haul has my respect. Especially those who are volunteers.
Favorite city to visit: I'm still forming an opinion about which one it is, and shall continue to diligently gather data.
Favorite team as a kid: the AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit)
Favorite values in others: authenticity, self-awareness and confidence
Favorite attribute about myself: I'm a morning person
And least: Which means I'm NOT an evening person
My heroes: My father
My bucket list: To have another expat stint. "We travel the world over in search of what we need and return home to find it." Living abroad for a year or two puts the awesomeness of home into a brighter perspective.
The professional athlete's poster I had on my wall: Greg Louganis
The thing I enjoy most about game day is: When the athletes use their training and skill sets to successfully overcome obstacles and adversity. Winning doesn't always mean getting first place; it means getting the best out of yourself.
I have a sweet tooth for: Pure maple syrup. Corn syrup aka fake maple syrup on delicious breakfast foods offends me.
I've cried while watching: Ginny Thrasher win the Olympic gold medal in 10-meter air rifle in 2016
The celebrity I'd love to hang with for a night is: Dolly Parton or Jeannie Buss
The most famous person I've met: Chad Lunsford
