STATESBORO, Ga. – UT-Arlington scored two runs on a bases loaded full-count single up the middle by Sam Crowell in the eighth inning to give the Mavericks a 5-3 victory on Thursday night in Statesboro.

The Eagles fall to 29-22 on the season and 12-10 in conference play, while UTA improves to 25-27 and 13-9 in conference play. Jay Thompson was pegged with his first loss of the season, falling to 6-1 after working two innings and allowing two runs on two hits.

In the top of the first, the Mavericks would score a pair of runs off Tyler Owens to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, Mason McWhorter collected his 15^th home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field to tie the ballgame.

The Eagles added a solo shot by Austin Thompson in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead 3-2. In the fifth, UTA would add a solo home run to center field to tie the ballgame, before scoring a pair in the eighth to take the lead for good. Zack Norris picked up the win in relief, improving to 4-3 on the season.
