ATLANTA, Ga. – Georgia Southern baseball scored a season high 23 runs on 24 hits to improve to 13-11 on the season and 4-3 in conference play, defeating Georgia State 23-1 on Thursday. The Panthers fall to 5-22 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

Tyler Owens improved to 3-0 on the season, working six innings of three-hit baseball for the Eagles, extending his streak of not allowing an earned run to 16 innings.

Austin Kleinlein all held down the backend of the ball game for the Eagles. Kleinlein closed out the game in the ninth in his first appearance in three years, allowing a walk and striking out the side.

Four Eagles homered on the evening as

Austin Thompson left the yard. McWhorter finishes the night a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored.
Austin Thompson drove in a career-high five RBIs in the victory, with a 3-for-7 night. He added four runs scored to his line as well.Â
