Men’s Golf Maintains Second Place at Schenkel Invitational

Brett Barron and Ben Carr are tied for second on the individual leaderboard.
STATESBORO – NC State's Benjamin Shipp put another 66 on the board, and the Wolfpack increased their lead to 14 strokes in the second round of the 41st playing of the Schenkel Invitational Saturday at Forest Heights Country Club.
Shipp (-12) owns a 6-stroke advantage on the individual standings over a group of six players who are tied for 6-under. Georgia Southern's Ben Carr and Brett Barron are part of that group after Carr shot a 70, and Barron posted a 72.
Jake Maples and Mason Williams each shot 74 to make up the other Eagle counters. NC State (-25) shot the lowest round of the day by six strokes to extend its cushion, and Georgia Southern (-11) is in second with a two-stroke lead over third-place Furman (-9). FGCU (-4) is fourth, and MTSU (+6) is fifth.
Carr made four birdies on the day, shot 34 on the front and finished the round with four straight pars. Barron had three birdies and posted a 33 on the front nine and ran off seven straight pars on the back.
Luke Dasher carded a 71 to lead the Georgia Southern individuals, and Avery Price posted a 73. Dasher birdied 12, 14 and 16 and played his final eight holes 3-under.
