STATESBORO, Ga. - On Monday afternoon, head coach Chris Adams announced that Georgia Southern women's soccer will play four spring matches to complete the 2020-21 schedule. The Eagles will hit the road for three matches, including two SEC opponents and will host one inside the friendly confines of Eagle Field.
GS will open the Spring portion of their 2020-21 schedule on the road against the Stetson Hatters in DeLand, Florida. The Hatters were picked seventh in the ASUN preseason polls and will open their 2020-21 season against the Eagles. In 2019, the blue and white had to move the match originally scheduled for DeLand, Florida to Columbus, Georgia due to weather. The Hatters would defeat the Eagles 4-1.
Georgia Southern will return home to the friendly confines of Eagle Field for the only home match of the Spring. The Eagles will host the University of North Florida on February 18, at 7 p.m. The last time that the Eagles and Osprey met on the field, the match went into double overtime and ended in a draw in 2016. Kelli Crowley of UNF scored in the first five minutes of play, before Jennifer Wittick was awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute to score her first goal of the season and tie the match. Lauren Karinshak made five saves and played all 110 minutes in goal for the Eagles.
The Blue and White will continue their Spring matches traveling to Gainesville, Florida to take on the Florida Gators. The match is scheduled for March 11, with a time to be announced at a later date. The Eagles will conclude their 2020-21 season with a match against Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. The match is scheduled for March 27, with kick off at 2 p.m.
