- Georgia Southern heads up to Ohio to take on the Akron Zips for the conference opener.
- This is the first ever conference match for the Eagles as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
- The Eagles are set to face the Zips for the first time in program history.
- This is also the first time Georgia Southern is playing a team from the state of Ohio.
- Akron has already opened conference play with a 0-0 2OT tie against #3 West Virginia.
- Akron was picked second in the MAC preseason poll, just behind West Virginia who will be heading to C-USA after the season.
