Carr Ties for Eighth, Men’s Golf Finishes 11th at Fighting Irish Classic

The Eagles cap the fall at the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate Oct. 10-12.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ben Carr shot a 4-under 206 to tie for eighth, and the Georgia Southern men's golf team finished 11th at the Fighting Irish Classic Tuesday at Warren Golf Course.
It was the 15th top-10 finish of Carr's career, and the senior has placed in the top-10 in all three events this season. Washington won the team title, and host No. 22 Notre Dame was second, followed by Utah, Kent State and Michigan State. The Eagles finished ahead of Washington State, Iowa State and Boston College.
The Eagles teed off on the 10th hole in today's final round, and Carr parred five of his first six holes before making birdie on 16 and 17. He played the front nine clean with birdies at 3 and 5. Senior Wilson Andress birdied 16 and 18 to make the turn even and made nine straight pars on the front for an even-par 70, his best round of the tournament.
Carr made four birdies on his way to a 1-under 69 in the first round and parred his final six holes of the second round to shoot even. Freshman Hogan Ingram played his first 16 holes of the first round 2-under en route to carding a 71, and individual Brantley Baker played his final eight holes 2-under to post an even 70 in the second round.
The Eagles ranked second in the field in pars with 182 but struggled on the par 3s for the week.
