Men’s Golf Stays Tied for Sixth after Two Rounds in Tennessee

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Georgia Southern men's golf team shot a 6-under 282 today and maintained its standing in a tie for sixth after two rounds of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Golf Club.
Ben Carr led the Eagles with a 69, while Wilson Andress and Colin Bowles each shot a 70. Brantley Baker rounded out the Eagle counters with a 73, and Jack Boltja, who is playing as an individual, shot 69 today.
Georgia Southern (-10) is tied with Virginia Tech, a stroke ahead of Penn State (-9) and NC State. Host East Tennessee State (-24) leads the tournament, and Louisville (-22) is second. Charlotte (-18) is third, followed by College of Charleston (-12) and Maryland (-11).
Andress made six birdies in a 7-hole stretch in the middle of his round, while Carr, Bowles and Baker each made five birdies in the round.
Carr played his last 11 holes 4-under with birdies on 8, 9, 14 and 18, while Bowles birdied 1, 4 and 6 to shoot 2-under on the front. Baker made three birdies in a row on holes 13-15 and shot 1-under on the back nine.
Boltja started the round on the 10th hole and birdied 18 to make the turn even before making birdies at 4, 7 and 9.
