STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern women's tennis team opened its home slate with a pair of wins over Kennesaw State and USC-Upstate Saturday and Sunday at the Wallis Tennis Center.
 
The Eagles (4-1) went up 3-1 against KSU Saturday afternoon before weather forced the match into a delay until Sunday morning. The Owls (0-7) put up a valiant fight but the Blue and White came away victorious 4-3.
 
On Sunday afternoon, the Eagles dominated their match with the Spartans (0-5) winning every contest played on their way to a 2-0 home record.
 
What head coach Sean McCaffrey said:
"Overall, I believe we had a productive weekend. KSU was a real challenge. They are well coached and never give you a free point. They are always hustling and constantly competing. This was a good match for us to learn how to work through playing against other tough competition. We did a good job but need to keep improving."
"Our match against USC-Upstate started out really well for us in doubles. All-in-all we only dropped one service game and played confident and poised throughout. We will take a day to recover and begin preparing for College of Charleston."
