Women's Tennis Open Home Stretch With KSU and USC-Upstate

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern women's tennis team opens a five-match home stretch Saturday and Sunday against Kennesaw State and South Carolina-Upstate at the Wallis Tennis Center.
 
Saturday's match against the Owls will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Sunday action scheduled for 10:00 a.m. against the Spartans.
 
Last time out:
The Eagles (2-1) lost 0-7 in neutral site action to No. 18 Texas A&M this past Friday in Orlando at the USTA National Tennis Center before bouncing back to dominate Bethune-Cookman 7-0 the following Sunday on the road. The team was scheduled to face Stetson this past Saturday, but the match was postponed.   
 
Kennesaw State Series history:
The Eagles lead the series 6-3 including the last four straight. The last meeting was a 6-1 win for the Blue and White in Sean McCaffrey's first win as head coach of the Eagles in 2018.
 
USC-Upstate Series history:
The Eagles lead the series 3-2 including the past three straight. In 2015, the Eagles defeated the Spartans 4-1 in the most recent meeting.  
 
About KSU:
The Owls (0-6) are winless thus far having faced several tough opponents. The team has dropped matches to Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Alabama, Clemson and Samford having failed to score a team point on the season.
 
About USC-Upstate:
The Spartans (0-4) are also looking for their first win in 2020 after suffering losses to Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga and Belmont.
 
What head coach Sean McCaffrey said:
"I know the ladies are all eager to play tennis this weekend on their home courts. The weather looks to be nice and the team is extremely excited to play in front of their fans. We have a very focused mindset and our goal is to continue working on those goals each and every week."
 
Up Next:
Following the weekend slate, the Eagles are at home for the next three matches beginning with College of Charleston Feb. 16 at 1:00 p.m.
