STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team returns to the road after five home matches to take on Bethune-Cookman and Stetson Saturday.
The BCU match will begin at 9:00 a.m. before traveling a short distance to Stetson for a 2:30 p.m. match.
Last time out:
The Eagles (7-5) improved to 5-0 at home with a 5-2 win over Mercer Wednesday. The win equals the longest winning streak from the 2019 season.
Finkelstein's singles win now gives him the third most total career singles wins in GS history with 71.
Murphy McCullough and
Santiago Suarez are currently ranked 47
th nationally in doubles play by ITA. The duo previously scored a 6-3 victory over No. 9 Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad of Miami on Jan. 19.
Bethune-Cookman Series history:
The Eagles are a perfect 11-0 against the Wildcats in a series that dates back to 2004. In the most recent meeting, Georgia Southern defeated BCU 4-1 in 2019 in a home match.
Stetson history:
The Hatters lead 4-7 including the past two meetings. The Eagles last won in 2017 in a 4-0 home match.
About BCU:
The Wildcats (1-2) recently got their first win of 2020 Wednesday 4-3 against Keiser. The team previously suffered losses to Florida Gulf Coast and College of Charleston.
About Stetson:
The Hatters (4-2) are having a good start to 2020 having won the last four out of five matches. The team has victories over Bethune-Cookman, Florida National, Troy and Florida A&M.
