The event will be Oct. 19-20 in Statesboro.
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's golf program will host the Bash in the Boro, a team tournament, Oct. 19-20, at Georgia Southern University Course in Statesboro.
Augusta, Appalachian State, Francis Marion, Troy, Western Kentucky and Wofford are slated to compete in the event along with the Eagles. The practice round will be Oct. 18, and the teams will play 36 holes Oct. 19, and 18 holes Oct. 20. Six student-athletes will compete in the lineup for each team, and the lowest four scores from each round will count in the team score.
Teams will be grouped in two groups of three in order to reduce contact tracing.
"I am very excited for the team to be able to continue our fall season and compete in Statesboro," said Georgia Southern coach Carter Collins. "We are also excited to compete in a team event at the Georgia Southern University Course, our first in program history. This has been an interesting few months, and we are grateful and thankful to continue competing. The team has been working hard to prepare for whatever is next, and the Bash in the Boro event will be a good challenge for us to continue our progressions."
About Georgia Southern University Golf Course:
The Georgia Southern University Golf Course at University Park is an 18-hole championship course opened in October 2013. The Eagle men's golf program has hosted the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate at the course annually since 2017, and the women's program hosted The Strutter there in 2019 and is scheduled to host the event again next February.
The 167-acre tract of land is located six miles south of Georgia Southern's main campus in a residential area of Bulloch County. The course is 6,900 yards from the championship tees and includes a total of five sets of tees at each hole to accommodate a variety of player skill levels.
The construction of the golf course included the renovation of the 8,000 square foot clubhouse, an addition of a 10,000 square foot maintenance and golf cart storage facility, and a complete practice facility. The clubhouse will house a multi-purpose/meeting room, a café, golf shop, and administrative offices. The practice facility includes a 30-station practice range, chipping green, and a 10,000 square foot practice putting green.
