• Georgia Southern caps the regular season by hosting Troy in a three-match series in Hanner Fieldhouse. The teams meet at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday and finish the series at 1 p.m. Friday.
• Georgia Southern is fifth in the Sun Belt East Division, and Troy is second.
• The Eagles lost three at division leader Coastal Carolina last week, while Troy won three against Appalachian State at home.
• GS leads the all-time series against Troy 11-5 but has lost two of the last three. The teams split the season series last year with each team winning at home. GS is 6-1 against the Trojans in Hanner Fieldhouse.
• Troy is 1-4 on the road this season, while Georgia Southern is 1-1 at home. The Eagles had three home matches against Appalachian State canceled because of COVID-19 related issues.
• Chamblee Russell was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Week Nov. 3 after averaging four kills and three digs a set while hitting .295 in two matches against Georgia State. It was the second time the freshman earned the honor this season.
• Junior setter Madison Brown has topped the 2,000-assist mark for her career (2,199) and ranks seventh on the school's all-time list. Brown was named Sun Belt Setter of the Week Oct. 6.
• Senior defensive specialist Landon Jones is 327 digs away from 1,000 for her career, and junior Maddie Bryant crossed the 500 career kill mark last week at Coastal Carolina and now has 508. Bryant is 74 digs away from 500 for her career.
• The Eagles are currently the fifth seed in the Sun Belt Tournament, set for Nov. 18-22 in Foley, Ala. GS cannot move up in the standings but could fall to sixth, depending what Appalachian State does at Coastal Carolina.
• The tournament will feature Olympics style pool play as teams will be grouped into four three-team pods based on their finish in the league standings. The winners of each pod advance to the semifinals for a single-elimination tournament from there. If the season ended today, the Eagles would be in Pool B with UTA and Troy and meet the Trojans in their first match of the tournament.
