ATLANTA – Meisheia Griffin tallied nine kills and three blocks and hit .643 for the match to lead Georgia State to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-11) Sun Belt Conference volleyball win over Georgia Southern Thursday night in GSU Sports Arena.
It was the season opening match for the Eagles (0-1, 0-1), while the Panthers (2-4, 1-3) pick up their first conference win.

Mya Wilson tallied 13 kills and hit .333 to lead the Eagles, while
Chamblee Russell collected 10 kills, 11 digs and three aces in her collegiate debut.
Landon Jones finished with 11 digs.

Consecutive kills by
Baylor Bumford and Russell tied the score 22-22 in the first set, but State scored the next three on a Leah Wilcox kill, a Southern ball-handling error and a block by Cierra Sillmon and Dzemila Hadzic to win the set 25-22 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Eagles led 11-7 in the second set before the Panthers won 13 of the next 19 points and opened up a 20-16 cushion on consecutive aces by Ava Vlkovic. State hit .357 while holding the Eagles to minus .074 in the final set.
