Brock Van Faussien Named GS Softball Assistant Coach

Van Faussein joins the Eagles from Pitt; will coach offense and assist in recruiting

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Softball Coach Kim Dean has announced the hiring of Brock Van Faussien as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Van Faussien will be in charge of all of the offensive aspects of the Eagles' squad in 2019-20, as well as assisting in recruiting efforts. He spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh, where the Panthers hit 55 home runs during the season.

Prior to joining the Panthers, Van Faussien spent the 2017-18 season as a volunteer assistant at the University of Georgia, helping the Bulldogs compile a 48-13 overall record and a Women's College World Series berth.

"Brock brings a wealth of coaching experience to our program, and a track record of success offensively," Dean said. "I'm confident he'll be able to continue the growth we've shown over the last two years becoming one of the top hitting teams in the Sun Belt, while also aiding us in finding future Eagles to bring to Statesboro."

Van Faussien started his coaching career on the baseball side, serving as a graduate assistant at Clemson and as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Liberty. He was an assistant coach at Southeastern Louisiana before moving to softball with his position at Georgia.

A graduate of Liberty University, Van Faussien earned his bachelor's degree in sports management in 1997. He and his wife, Reba, have one daughter, Charlotte Sue, and one son, JJ.
