TROY, ALA. - Georgia Southern Baseball ran into a hot rack of bats in the late innings as Troy scored eight unanswered to top the Eagles 10-3. The Eagles held a 3-2 lead in the middle of the sixth, but eight unanswered including a four run sixth inning wrote the story. Game two between the Eagles and Trojans is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) / 2 p.m. (ET).

Blake Evans was followed up by a
Steven Curry double to move the freshman along to third base.
Tyler Martin drove in the run with a sacrifice fly to right, staking the Eagles to an early lead.
BOT 4TH | GS 1 - TROY 2 | Troy took the lead in the fourth with a pair of runs off three hits.
TOP 6TH | GS 3 - TROY 2 | Austin Thompson put the Eagles back on top in the sixth, driving in two with his fourth home run of the season.
BOT 6TH | GS 3 - TROY 6 | Troy clubbed three home runs in a four run sixth inning that including a double and a triple to put the Trojans on top 6-3.
BOT 7TH | GS 3 - TROY 8 | A two-run home run in the seventh pushed the lead to 8-3 after seven innings.
BOT 8TH | GS 3 - TROY 10 | Troy got another run in the eighth off a one out solo home run. A double and an RBI single later in the inning put the Trojans into double digits at 10-3.
GAME NOTES
- Saturday's game is being pushed up to a 2 p.m. (ET) start due to possible inclement weather in Lower Alabama later in the day.
Joe Nahas will get the ball for the Eagles who look to even the series.
- Thompson's sixth inning home run gave him a 1-for-4 game. The bomb was his fourth of the season
- Curry and Martin both logged a pair of hits in the game. Curry went 2-for-4, while Martin was 2-for-3.

Seth Shuman was poised to get his eighth quality start of the season, allowing two through five, but a four run Troy sixth inning handed the junior the loss to snap a five-game win streak and dropped him to 6-5 on the year.
- The loss in the series opener is Georgia Southern's first since March 15tth when the Eagles dropped their league opener to UT Arlington. The Eagles have won six-straight series opener since.
- Troy's offensive explosion featured 13 total hits with 10 going for extra bases. The Trojans clubbed five home runs off the bats of five different players. Their last time out, against Alabama State earlier this week, Troy hit six home runs from six different batters.
- Despite the loss, Georgia Southern still leads the East Division by a half game. Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State both lost their games on Friday to stay a half game back, while Troy is only a game out of first place, but sitting in fourth in the division.
