Georgia Southern takes the rubber match of the weekend series
BOONE, N.C. - Georgia Southern erased an early 2-0 deficit to take a 6-2 Sunday win over App State on Sunday morning. The Eagles three in the fifth and didn't look back, getting two RBIs from Steven Curry and JP Tighe, while pitcher Lawson Humphries made a pinch running appearance and scored a run. Georgia Southern is back at home on Wednesday night against Kennesaw State
SCORING INNINGS
BOT 3rd | GS 0 - APP 1 | Appalachian State's Tyler Leek put the Mountaineers ahead with a solo home run for the second time in as many days.
BOT 4th | GS 0 - APP 2 | A one out RBI single to center drove in App's second run of the game in the fourth frame.
TOP 5th | GS 3 - APP 2 | A leadoff walk to Austin Thompson came back to bite the Mountaineers in the fifth on JP Tighe's RBI double to right that was in and out of the diving right fielder's glove. Four pitches later, Steven Curry drove in two more runs with a gap shot to left, handing the Eagles a 3-2 lead.
TOP 7th | GS 4 - APP 2 | The Eagles played small ball after a Jason Swan leadoff double for the game's fourth run. JP Tighe grounded to third after a sacrifice bunt moved Swan to third, plating the sophomore first baseman. It was Tighe's second RBI of the game and third RBI of the series.
TOP 8th | GS 6 - APP 2 | The Eagles tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning, pushing Tyler Martin in after a leadoff double with a Noah Ledford RBI single. Ledford was lifted for pitch Lawson Humphries who made a special pinch running appearance. He came in to score when Blake Evans dropped a two out squeeze bunt to the pitcher.

- Daniel Collins went five and a third to claim his third win of the season. Collins scattered six hits and allowed runs in the third and fourth innings with five strikeouts.
- Freshman JP Tighe has a solid Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Austin Thompson and Steven Curry each added two hits as the Eagles took their third series win of the season.
- Senior Cole Whitey retired all 11 batters he faced to post his fourth save of the year. He needed just 28 pitches to close out the game with a pair of strikeouts.

Georgia Southern welcomes Kennesaw State to Statesboro for the first of two midweek games against the Owls. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+. This weekend the Eagles are back home for a weekend series with Texas State.
