GS Women’s Soccer to Play in Sun Belt Championship Tournament as #8 Seed

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Women's Soccer will be the eighth seed in the Sun Belt Championship Tournament starting Nov. 6 in Foley, Ala.
The Eagles will seek revenge for a regular season match as they face the #1 South Alabama Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday. Georgia Southern and South Alabama played each other in the regular season at home on Oct 3 and lost 0-3.
"At the start of the year we sat down as a team and discussed our goals for the season," said Head Coach Josh Moffet. "One of those goals was to, at a minimum, make the conference tournament, a feat this team did not achieve last year. Albeit I'm disappointed to not have secured our fate prior to the final game of the season, I am pleased that we have achieved this goal and have the opportunity to extend our season. We know we'll be going up against a very strong South Alabama team, but as we all know anything can happen in conference tournament play."
The winner of the Georgia Southern and South Alabama will play the winner of #5 Georgia State vs. #4 Coastal Carolina on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. EST.
The last time Georgia Southern was in the tournament was 2017 where they had the 6th seed and lost out in the second round to Coastal Carolina.
