Quickly: The Eagles compete in their second tournament of the season when they travel to the Shoal Creek Invitational in Alabama. It's their fourth appearance in the event in the last six years, and GS placed fifth there in 2017 with Steven Fisk shooting 4-under and finishing sixth.

Quickly: The Eagles head to Blacksburg, Virginia to compete in their second tournament of the fall. The Eagles are coming off of a very successful weekend in Charleston, where they competed at the Charleston Southern Invitational.

Quickly: The Eagles will head on the road this weekend for the first time in conference play to take on the Warhawks of Louisiana Monrore at 4:00 PM Friday. The Warhawks enter play with an 0-10-0 record and are 0-3-0 in conference play. The Blue and White are looking to rebound from a tough 2-1 loss to Appalachian State on Sunday and currently sit in sixth place in the conference standings after two weeks. The Eagles enter Friday with a 3-6-0 record and are 1-1-0 in conference play.

Quickly: The Georgia Southern Swimming & Diving squad opens up the 2018-19 regular season by visiting the Savannah College of Art & Design for a dual meet with the Bees in Savannah. SCAD is one of the top-ranked teams in NAIA, and the two schools met last season in Statesboro, with Georgia Southern taking a 176-61 victory.

Quickly: Georgia Souther Cross Country returns to the competition trail this weekend after their last race was canceled due to Hurricane Florence. The Eagles will run for the second time this season in the Palmetto State, visiting the Upstate Challenge, hosted by USC Upstate at the Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg.

Quickly: The Eagles defeated the Red Wolves in 1986 in the first ever meeting between the two teams, the 1986 DI-AA Championship Game … In that game, quarterback Tracy Ham rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns and completed 12-of-21 passes for 306 yards and another score … Ham is now the senior associate athletic director for external operations at GS … The early October meeting between the Eagles and Red Wolves last season was the first home game in Paulson Stadium during the 2017 season due to an earlier home game being relocated by Hurricane Irma … Arkansas State has six players on its roster from the state of Georgia, but Georgia Southern has no players on its roster from the state of Arkansas … GS linebacker Tomarcio Reese and A-State offensive lineman Chase Johnson played together at Northwest Mississippi CC … Offensive linemen Curtis Rainey and Jeremiah Culbreth, along with defensive end Logan Hunt, could all make their third career start against the Red Wolves Saturday … Nine true freshmen have seen playing time this season.

Quickly: The Eagles (3-3-1) journey up I-16 to Macon to take on Mercer (4-2-2) in a non-conference contest on Saturday. The two teams have met 48 times previously, and the overall series is tied at 24-all. Last year, the Bears took a 2-1 win in Statesboro to even up the series behind a pair of Will Bagrou goals. This season, Ramario Thompson (3 goals) leads the Mercer attack, while Javier Carbonell (9 goals) leads the Eagles.

Quickly: The Georgia Southern rifle squad will open its 2018-19 campaign on Sunday, taking on host and 20th-ranked North Georgia and No. 17 Morehead State at the Col. Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range in Dahlonega, Georgia … Action begins at 8 a.m. with the squads participating in both the USA Shooting 60-shot 3x20 small bore and 60-shot air rifle disciplines … The scores from Saturday's UNG/MSU match will be factored into Sunday's UNG/GS match to determine the tri-match results … Morehead finished the 2017-18 season ranked 17th in the country by the CRCA while North Georgia finished ranked 20th and as SoCon champions. The Eagles finished last season ranked 22nd in the country … Georgia Southern returns three strong veterans in seniors Courtney Weekley and Rosemary Kramer, along with redshirt junior Lydia Odlin. Head coach Sandra Worman also welcomes three freshmen in Caroline Brakeville, Emily Christopoul and Rachel Gray to the squad.

The Jaguars enter play with a 3-7-0 record and are 1-2-0 in conference play. Both the Eagles and Jaguars sit tied with three points in the conference standings and are looking to rebound from losses on Sunday. The last time these two teams met at Eagle Field, the skies opened and the Jaguars won a wet game 4-0.
