STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern women's tennis team earned another rivalry victory Sunday morning with a 4-2 win over Appalachian State. With the win head coach
Sean McCaffrey earned his 400
th career victory and the Eagles improved to 12-6 on the season, surpassing last season's win total with one match left to play.
The morning did not begin how the Eagles had planned dropping matches on courts one and three in doubles play to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Appalachian State added to their scoring with a win on court two and won the first set on four courts. The Eagles got a point back with
Charlotte van Diemen defeating her opponent in straight sets on court six.
With the score favoring the Mountaineers 2-1 the Eagles kicked into gear and took second sets on three courts to push the matches to a third set.
Arianne de Winter rebounded on court one winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to level the scoring.
Ella Monsey grabbed a second set victory to even her match before winning and giving the Eagles a 3-2 lead.
Paula Boixader added to the scoring with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory on court four. The Eagles sweep the rivalry weekend and increased their winning streak to five in a row.

th career victory Sunday and has guided the Eagles to eclipse last season's win total. The Blue and White will return home for senior day and then await their seeding in the conference tournament. The Eagles currently post a 12-6 record overall and a 2-2 record in conference play. They will host Arkansas State on Saturday to conclude the 2018 regular season.
