Ofstedahl Ties for Fifth, Women’s Golf Takes 10th at Charleston Invitational

The sophomore places in the top-10 in her second consecutive tournament.

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Ella Ofstedahl tied for fifth, and the Georgia Southern women's golf team placed 10th Tuesday in the Charleston Invitational at RiverTowne Country Club.

Ofstedahl finished in the top-10 in her second consecutive tournament and has three top-10s and five top-20s this season. The Eagles placed 10th, four strokes behind UNC Wilmington and one ahead of Florida International. Coastal Carolina won the tournament, Campbell finished second and East Carolina placed third.

Ansley Bowman paced the Eagles with a 72 in today's third round, and Julianna Collett shot a 75. Ofstedahl followed yesterday's school record 68 with a 76, Sarah Noonan shot 77 and Natalie Petersen carded a 79.

The story
Bowman made par on her first three holes of the day and then, sparked by an eagle at the par-5, 478-yard 18th, played eight holes in the middle of her round 3-under, adding a birdie on 3.

Collett made three birdies on the day, parred her first four holes, shot even through her first 14 holes and finished the event with a birdie.

Ofstedahl made par on eight of her first nine holes, rolled in a birdie on 4 and finished the tournament with four consecutive pars.

The Sun Belt Championship returns to the Raven Course in Sandestin, Fla., April 14-17. The Eagles finished fourth when the Sun Belt Championship was played at the Raven Course in 2016. It was GS program's first season.
