AD addresses Eagle Nation in letter form
Eagle Nation,
As we begin to make preparations for Thanksgiving, I thought I'd take this opportunity to share with you what I am thankful for in my role as leader of this department.
I'm thankful for the football season we've had. It's been a great season, highlighted by our first win over a ranked team and great crowds at Paulson Stadium. We're eligible for postseason and I hope I see all of you at whatever bowl we are selected for if we are fortunate enough to be chosen by one of our partners. Remember, presale ticket applications are available now and go a long way in showing how attractive we would be as a representative in their bowl.
I'm thankful for the start our men's basketball team is off to. We had a great win over George Mason in front of a great crowd and I hope you'll come out for big games against ETSU and Bradley before we get into the conference slate in January.
I'm thankful that we've enjoyed success all across the board as well. Our men's soccer team made it to the championship game of the Sun Belt Tournament and our men's golf team won two tournaments this past fall. Among others, our baseball and softball teams are poised to have big springs and I'm excited to be able to watch all of our sports continue to improve.
I'm thankful for the support that you, our fans, give us in all our sports. We have a passionate fan base that comes out to all of our events and is known for traveling well. There's no better feeling than looking up in the stands, be it at home or on the road, and seeing our loyal group of supporters cheering on our student-athletes. I look forward to seeing you at our events this winter and spring!
I'm thankful for the staff that works so hard to make Georgia Southern Athletics successful. You know a lot of the coaches and their support staffs, but there are countless people who work behind the scenes to make your visits to our games and events memorable ones and we couldn't do it without them.
I'm thankful for the academic success we've had and continue to have. Reggie Simpkins and his staff keep raising the bar and our student-athletes keep meeting the goals of graduation and success in the classroom.
I'm thankful that we've been able to continue to enhance our facilities. We continue to make these venues a better place for our student-athletes and fans.
As you can see, there's a lot to be thankful for. We have the foundation in place to be successful, but now we have to build upon that. You can help by supporting the Georgia Southern Athletics on Giving Tuesday in honor of Rings, Diplomas and Leaders on Nov. 27. Contributions will help grow our programs and provide opportunities and experiences for our student-athletes. DONATE TODAY
Your generosity helps us continue to support our students as they compete for a ring, earn a college diploma and graduate as leaders. I encourage you on Giving Tuesday to keep this in mind as we move into the giving season. Every gift helps, and no gift is too small.
I am thankful I am able to lead the program that you love and support. As always, #HailSouthern
