Quickly: The Georgia Southern women's basketball team opens up the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, hosting Wofford at Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles are one of only eight teams in NCAA Division I to feature a roster with no seniors or redshirt juniors. The season-opening opponent for the Eagles are the Terriers, who were 10-20 overall and 3-11 in Southern Conference play last season. Georgia Southern leads the overall series between the two schools, 32-8, and this will be the first meeting since the Eagles left the SoCon for the Sun Belt Conference in 2014.

Quickly: Georgia Southern opens its 89th season and 48th Division I campaign of men's basketball Wednesday when the Eagles play host to Carver College in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles are 3-2 under head Coach Mark Byington in season openers and 5-0 in home openers. It's the first time the Eagles have opened the season at home since topping Webber International 116-49 in 2015.

Quickly: Georgia Southern meets Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference Semifinals at Eagle Field on Friday evening. This is the second straight year that the Eagles and the Mountaineers have met in Sun Belt tournament play - last season the two teams met in first-round action, with the GS advancing past App State in penalty kicks, 5-4, after playing to a 0-0 draw. The winner advances to the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Quickly: Georgia Southern and Troy have met 17 times on the gridiron with the Trojans holding an 11-6 lead in the series that dates back to 1934, although that number is a little misleading … Since Georgia Southern re-started its football program for the 1982 season, the Eagles are 6-3 against Troy, winning four of the past five … The two teams played every year from 1934-1941 with the Trojans winning all eight contests … Outside linebackers coach Jeremy Rowell spent 15 seasons at Troy, including the final six as the defensive coordinator … From 2006-2010, the Trojans won the Sun Belt Conference title outright or shared the title each of those five seasons … Rowell also led Troy to a 19-3 regular season record as a starting quarterback in 1994 and 1995 … GS will recognize 16 seniors before Saturday's final scheduled home game … The Eagles have won six straight games at home dating back to last year's Senior Day win over South Alabama and will be looking for their 13th undefeated home season at Paulson Stadium, the first since 2014.

Quickly: The Eagles travel to Blacksburg, Va., to take on Virginia Tech in their first road game of the 2018-19 season. Virginia Tech was the 2018 WNIT Runners-up and is coming off of a 23-win season. This is only the second meeting between the two schools, with the first meeting coming back on Dec. 20, 1983, a 64-61 win for the Hokies. This is also the first ACC opponent the Eagles have played since meeting Clemson on Nov. 16, 2016 - a 58-47 loss to the Tigers.
