STATESBORO, Ga. – On Saturday morning the Georgia Southern men's tennis team will take the court at home for the final time this season. The Eagles will honor seniors
Christian Kerrigan and
Dani Casablancas, between doubles and singles play. The Blue and White will be hosting the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina in the final Sun Belt Conference match of the season. The Eagles currently post a 17-11 record overall and a 1-2 record in the conference.
With a win on Saturday the Blue and White will become the first team since 1983 to post a perfect record at home. The Eagles have also proved their dominance, becoming the first team since the 1999 and 2000 seasons to have back to back winning seasons. Head coach
Sander Koning has also tallied the most wins under his lead in the three years he has coached at Georgia Southern.
"We had a good two weeks to get ready for this match," Head coach
Sander Koning said. "The guys are eager to get back on the court and compete. We know Coastal Carolina has been playing good as of late and won their last seven matches. We are expecting a battle. It should be a good match before going into the conference tournament."
The Chants travel to Statesboro posting a 12-7 record overall and a 1-1 record in the conference. Coastal Carolina currently holds a seven match winning streak before heading to the Wallis Tennis Center. The Eagles will look to make one last push to move up the conference standings before April 21
st when the tournament begins. The Sun Belt Conference tournament will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
Last time out the Eagles traveled to take on Georgia State, UNG-Greensboro, and Appalachian State. The Eagles finished the weekend 2-1, defeating UNC-Greensboro and Appalachian State. Against UNCG the Eagles had to rally from a 1-0 deficit, after allowing the Spartans to gain the doubles point. The Blue and White would take four of the six singles matches needed to defeat the Spartans and get the 16
th victory of the season. On Sunday afternoon the Eagles improved to 17-11 on the season, surpassing head coach
Sander Koning's win total from last season. The guys would defeat the Mountaineers 4-1 for their first victory over Appalachian State since the 2012-2013 season.
Diego Finkelstein clinched the match for the Eagles with a 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 victory over his opponent.
