STATESBORO, Ga. – For the first time this season the Georgia Southern women's tennis team will compete against a Sun Belt opponent. The Eagles will host the first Sun Belt Pod weekend for women's tennis which will include home matches for the Eagles against South Alabama and Georgia State. The blue and white enter play with a 9-5 record after completing a tough spring break road trip in South Florida. The women's tennis team will look to build on its undefeated home record at the friendly confines of Wallis Tennis Center.

"Through a few of our recent tough losses we, have grown a lot as a team and become even stronger." Head coach Michele Stanford said. "This weekend will be the kick off to our favorite part of season, and we are really looking forward to producing some strong results against both USA and GSU. Both these teams have been tough competitors in the past. Our girls are very excited to return to play on our home courts, and we are especially looking forward to our GATA game versus Georgia State on Sunday."

South Alabama enters Statesboro with a 13-4 record. The Jaguars will play two matches this weekend against the Eagles and Mountaineers of Appalachian State. These matches will also be their first conference matches of the season. Last season the Jaguars defeated the Eagles 4-0 in a tournament hosted by South Alabama.

Georgia State enters play with a 7-7 record and a 0-2 record in conference play. The Panthers fell to UL Monroe the first match of the season on a neutral site in Auburn, Alabama. UT-Arlington would also defeat the Panthers last Saturday to drop Georgia State back to .500 on the season.

LAST TIME OUT

Last time out the Eagles traveled to South Florida for a three match road trip along the coast for spring break.
