Georgia Southern caps a four-match homestand by playing host to North Florida in Hanner Fieldhouse Tuesday at 6 p.m.
It's the first meeting between the teams since 2011, a 3-0 Eagle victory in Hanner Fieldhouse. Georgia Southern has won the last four in the series, dating back to 2007, and leads the series 4-1. North Florida won the first meeting 3-1 in 1991.
The Eagles are coming off a 2-1 weekend in the SpringHill Suites Invitational. Senior Katie Bange and sophomore Lauren Reichard were named to the all-tournament team.
Bange averaged three kills, 2.07 digs, 5.21 assists and 0.71 blocks in the tournament. She hit .420 for the weekend with 41 kills on 81 swings and just eight errors. Bange tallied her third and fourth triple-doubles of the season on the first day of the tourney. She recorded 16 kills, 11 digs, 23 assists and two blocks against Buffalo and posted 14 kills, 11 digs, 21 assists and four blocks while hitting .522 vs. Wake Forest.
Reichard averaged 1.64 blocks a set and posted 10 blocks to go along with 10 kills for her first career double-double against Wake Forest. She tallied eight blocks and had 12 kills to go along with two aces against South Carolina and recorded five blocks and eight kills vs. Buffalo. Reichard averaged 2.14 kills per set and hit .390 for the weekend.
Senior Alex Beecher tallied 26 digs against South Carolina for her 37th career match with 20-plus digs. Already Georgia Southern's career leader in digs, she needs 70 to reach the 2,000 mark.
North Florida went 2-1 in the Best Western Osprey Invite, its home tournament, last weekend.
Following the weekend, Georgia Southern opens a five-match road swing at the Crimson-White Tournament at Alabama. The Eagles play Presbyterian Friday and East Tennessee State and Alabama Saturday.
