SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina enters Tuesday's game having dropped three of their first four matches of the young season. The Gamecocks are most recently coming off a 1-0 loss on the road at Coastal Carolina on Friday, September 9. SC opened the season with a 2-1 loss to No. 2 Clemson at home and then fell 3-2 to Mercer in double overtime. The lone win on the season for the Gamecocks came at home against UCF on Sunday, Sept. 4. SC won that match 2-1.

Individually, Kevin Walker leads the Gamecocks' offense with a pair of goals on the year. He is tied with Danny Deakin with four points as Deakin has one goal and two assists to his credit. Luca Mayr and Trygve Ellingstad round out the Gamecocks with goals. Walker, who had the game-winner over UCF, has been the most efficient with his shots as he has hit 40% (2-5) of his attempts. SC has started two different goalkeepers between William Pyle and Marco Velez. Pyle has started the last two games between the pipes for SC and has four saves to his credit compared to five goals against while Pyle has 11 saves compared to just two goals against.

The Eagles and Gamecocks have met five times prior to Tuesday night's matchup with all five being in Columbia. GS trails 0-4-1 with the lone tie coming back on September 4, 1997 when the Eagles and Gamecocks worked to a 3-3 draw. The Gamecocks took the last meeting 4-2 last season on August 31, 2015. South Carolina has known just one head coach, Mark Berson. He owns an all-time record of 473-221-70 (.665) and is in his 40th year at the helm of the program. In 41 total seasons as a collegiate head coach, Berson boasts a record of 484-226-70 (.651).
