STATESBORO, Ga.- With one outdoor meet under their belts, the Georgia Southern track and field team heads to Gainesville, Florida to compete in the 73rd annual Pepsi Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday, which includes 10 ranked teams on the women's side.
The meet is held at the Percy Beard Track and is hosted by the University of Florida, whose women's team is No.10 in the country. Friday's running events begin at 9:30 a.m. and field events at 10 a.m. Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m., with field events starting at 11 a.m. Both days will be streamed on Watch ESPN.
During the first meet of the outdoor season last weekend, five Eagles posted career bests, including Kelsey Arnold who set the new school record for hammer throw (51.76m). Jamelia Owens reached 43.35 meters in the shot put which placed her in fifth. In jumps, Nia Hill tallied a career-best triple jump with a mark of 11.78m. Also setting personal bests were Bailey Willett and Jillian Sloane, who finished the 800 meter run in 2:14.35 and 2:14.95 respectively.
