Junior forward honored for her offensive dominance on the pitch
STATESBORO, Ga. – Junior forward Sarah Price earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors after an impressive junior campaign, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Price played in all 17 games for the Eagles and finished the season as one of the most dominant forwards in the conference.
Price, who transferred to Georgia Southern this season after playing two years at Arkansas, led the Eagles in multiple categories including goals (8), points (18), shots (31) and game-winners (3). Price's efficiency on the pitch allowed her to not only lead GS in statistics, but also ranked her in the top-five of several Sun Belt categories including goals (2nd), goals per game (2nd), points (3rd), points per game (3rd), and game-winning goals (3rd).
Three of her eight goals this season were game-winners, including a timely goal in the first minute of overtime to lift the Eagles to a win in their last game against Arkansas State. Price also scored game-winners against Winthrop (Sept. 3) and Kennesaw State (Sept. 9) to lead the Eagles to back-to-back wins.
Price was one of the many upperclassmen who led a young Georgia Southern team this fall, and will be an asset to the Eagles as she returns for her senior season in 2017.
