The storyline
Leading the match 2-1, South Alabama overcame a six-point deficit in the fourth set. A 5-1 run, keyed by two Daniel kills, brought the Jags to within two points at 16-14. Trailing 22-19, South Alabama ran off five straight points to make it match point. Daniel logged three kills during the spurt. A block by Chevalier and Reichard made the score 24-23, but Sarah Richardson put down a ball to end the match. After dropping the first set, Georgia Southern hit .231 in the second set and led by as many as eight points en route to tying the match. The Jaguars returned the favor in the third set and hit .267 while holding the Eagles to -.054. South Alabama led by as many as 11 points in the frame.

Quotable from Coach Dustin Wood
"We're not executing and not producing consistently. Our middles were hitting really well and then we went away from them in set four. A little of that was passing and then in crunch time, we didn't set the middle at all. We have to regroup and work harder."
