The Eagles open the 2015 season Aug. 28.
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern volleyball coach Dustin Wood announced today that Julia Landavazo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X High School) will attend Georgia Southern and compete for the Eagles, beginning in the 2015 season.
A 5-foot-9 outside hitter and defensive specialist, Landavazo helped lead her team to the Class 5-A state championship in 2012 and earned all-state honors in 2013 and 2014. She was all-district from 2012-14 and first-team All-Metro from 2013-14. She posted 812 kills, 687 digs and hit .278 in her senior season.
"We are excited to have Julia join our program," said Wood. "She's a great all-around player with a live arm and great ball control. She will help raise the gym level and compete for some time on the floor. I'm anxious to see how well she will develop."
The Georgia Southern volleyball team wrapped up its spring with a 3-0 record, capped by a five-set home victory over Georgia. The Eagles return four starters and 11 letterwinners from the 2014 team.
