STATESBORO, Ga. – Rebekah Van Dijk tallied 16 points and 14 rebounds, and UT Arlington held Georgia Southern to 27 percent shooting from the field to earn a 66-41 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball victory over the Eagles Thursday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Patrice Butler led the Eagles (4-24, 1-18) with 13 points and five rebounds in Georgia Southern's home finale.

A 6-foot-5 center, Van Dijk was 7-of-14 from the floor and grabbed eight offensive boards in 21 minutes of action for the Mavericks (16-12, 10-9). Cierra Johnson contributed 15 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Chaun Williams chipped in 12 points and six boards.
UT Arlington opened the contest with a 16-3 run as the Eagles managed to hit just one of their first 12 field goals in the contest. The margin grew to as many as 22 points on Johnson layup, and the Mavs led 32-12 at halftime.
The Eagles held UT Arlington to 38 percent shooting from the floor in the first half but gave up 11 second-chance points and managed to make just 5-of-25 from the floor at the other end.
The Mavs outscored the Eagles 11-1 to open the second half as the margin ballooned to 30 points on a Williams triple. The lead grew to as many as 38 points before the Eagles finished the game with a 17-4 spurt, keyed by two triples from Hix and another from Knight.
The Eagles play their season finale at Georgia State Saturday at noon.
