Rifle Takes First Shots of 2015-16 at Georgia Military College on Saturday

Saturday’s meet is the first with new head coach Jim Riggs
STATESBORO, GA. – The Georgia Southern Rifle team takes its first shots of the 2015-16 season on Saturday in a meet at Georgia Military College. Saturday's meet is the first of four fall opportunities for the Eagles. It will also be the first meet with first-year Head Coach Jim Riggs at the helm.

Location – Milledgeville, Ga.
Time – 8 a.m.
Opponents – Georgia Military | The Citadel | Wofford
ABOUT THE MEET
In Saturday's meet the Eagles will compete on paper targets at both the small bore (.22) and air rifle disciplines. Each shooter will take 20 shots from the kneeling, prone and standing positions on the small bore rifle before switching to 60 shots standing with the air rifle. Total scores from each weapon will be kept separately to determine the final classification. Shots on target score between 1-10 points each with a maximum of 600 points on offer for each weapon.

The Georgia Southern Rifle program enters the 2015-16 season with a new facility, a new coach and a new attitude for the future. The Eagles moved into the Georgia Southern Shooting Sports Center in September which provides the team electronic scoring and a climate controlled shooting facility. New coach Jim Riggs has brought his experience as a sharpshooter to the team as the Eagles look to make an impact on the national rankings.

"We are excited to get the season started this weekend. The team has been working hard in our new home at the Georgia Southern Shooting Sports Center and we are ready to see how we stack up against some other teams."

For the first time in program history, the Eagles will visit Ole Miss on October 17th for a meet against the nationally ranked Rebels and the Army Black Knights.
