MONROE, La. – Megan Chevalier had 10 kills, and Georgia Southern hit a season-high .333 as a team to earn a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-9) Sun Belt Conference volleyball victory over ULM in Fant-Ewing Coliseum Thursday night.

The story
Chevalier, Murray and Spencer combined to hit .304 with 28 kills on 56 swings in the match. Georgia Southern fought back from an 18-16 deficit and took a 22-20 lead on a Chevalier kill in the first set. Kaitlyn Shearer answered with a kill for ULM, and Swartz served up an ace to tie the score. After a Warhawk serving error, Murray served up an ace for the Eagles, and Spencer put down a ball to give Georgia Southern the 1-0 lead in the match. The Eagles overcame an early 4-0 deficit in the second set and used a 6-1 run, powered by three kills and a block by Murray, to build a 21-15 cushion. ULM cut the lead to four points, but that was as close as it would get. Georgia Southern hit .385 in both the second and third sets and held ULM to -.057 in the third. The Eagles out-dug the Warhawks 41-26 in the match.

Quotable from Coach Dustin Wood
"I'm very pleased with our execution tonight overall. We started out a little slow but settled in nicely at the end of the first set and finished after 20 points. Bernie (Bernetta Moore) came in for a situational sub and came up with a key dig at the end of the first set for us to go up by three. ULM came out strong in the second set, and we weathered the storm, went on to take the lead and never looked back. We had our best offensive night of the season. Katie (Bange) dispersed the ball well tonight and kept them off balance, and we had great production from our pins, Steph (Spencer) and Cathrine (Murray) and our middles Crysten (Curry) and Lauren (Reichard). Chev (Megan Chevalier) hit in the high .400s and had a great night. We have been working on finishing sets and matches in practice all week, and it showed tonight. I'm very proud of this group tonight for keeping their composure through the entire match."
