
Seven Eagles Receive Summer Ball Assignments

STATESBORO, Ga. - Seven members of the Georgia Southern baseball team will spend their summer developing and honing their skills in collegiate baseball leagues.
Hunter Thomas, Ryan Cleveland, C.J. Brazil, Avery Fagan, Patrick Riley, Garrett Chapman and Caleb Pressey will each spend their summer break between the end of the season and the start of fall classes playing baseball in a summer collegiate league.
Three Eagles will take their games to one of the top leagues in the country, the Valley Baseball League.
Thomas, Cleveland and Brazil will each compete in the wood-bat league that has produced over a 1,000 professional baseball players and had 27 alumni drafted in the 2013 MLB draft. Thomas will be a member of the Staunton Braves, while Cleveland will join the Front Royal Cardinals and Brazil the Aldie Senators.
Pitchers Avery Fagan, Patrick Riley and Caleb Pressey will remain in the state of Georgia this summer. Fagan and Riley will play in the Sunbelt League while Pressey will join the Augusta Blue Bombers of the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Baseball League.
Freshman All-American Garrett Chapman will be the lone Eagle in the Coastal Plain League and will play in his home state for the Florence RedWolves.
