SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern junior Jasmin Walker, who was named the Most Outstanding Athlete and Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the Southern Conference Championships, was selected the Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Month by the league office today. She collected six awards at last month's league championships and is expected to compete with her SoCon champion 4x100m Relay teammates at the NCAA Division I East Region later this month.
Walker won her third-straight outdoor Long Jump title, extending the Georgia Southern skein to 10 titles in the outdoor event, and was a member of the Eagles' 4X100m Relay that ran a 44.50 time for a Southern Conference and University record. From Fairburn, Ga., she also earned All-Conference honors in both the 100m and 200m Dash events with personal best times in both races, posting a 11.69 in the 100 and 23.68 in the 200. Both times rank second in Georgia Southern program history.
Several Eagles will continue to compete in twilight and last chance races in the next two weeks in an effort to improve their times and marks to qualify for the NCAA Division I East Regionals.
