Georgia Southern represented by six student-athletes in three events
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia Southern 4x100m Relay team finished its season by qualifying for the 2014 NCAA East Regionals, but was unable to complete its final race Saturday night at Hodges Stadium. The Eagle relay team of two sophomores, a junior and a senior, made history as the first Georgia Southern relay team to advance to the NCAA East Regionals. Another part of the legacy left by Alyssa Felton, Jasmin Walker, Aarian Tipton and Jordan Fordham was their record-setting performance at the Southern Conference Championships.
"There's no way to replicate the environment at the NCAA East Regionals, but without a doubt the preparation and experience provided our Eagles with a tremendous opportunity," said Georgia Southern Head Track & Field Coach Marlo Mincey. "The program can continue to strengthen in not only these events, but help us develop in all areas."
Georgia Southern qualified the highest number of student-athletes for NCAA East Regionals in the most events ever in 2014. Aarian Tipton, the record holder in the 200m Dash, and five-time SoCon Long Jump champion Jasmin Walker competed in those two individual events earlier this week in addition to their participation as members of the 4x100m Relay team.Georgia Southern Athletics provides up-to-date information on all its sports through its official website, GSEagles.com, through social media channels facebook.com/GSAthletics, twitter.com/GSAthletics, iOS appGeorgia Southern Eagles and Android app Eagles GATA.
