Eagles Continue to Break Records on Day Two at Florida Relays

4X200m Relay team add to list of marks set in 2014

STATESBORO, Ga. –Georgia Southern added another record to its list of those set during the 2014 outdoor season as the 4X200m Relay team took more than half a second off its previous mark. Freshman Asha Stegall, juniors Jasmin Walker and Jordan Fordham and senior Aarian Tipton placed ninth overall with the latest entry in the Georgia Southern record book at 1:36.28.

This relay, run traditionally at the Florida Relays, also traditionally sees the Eagles break it each year. Both Walker was also on the 2013 record-breaking team as well as the 2012 team that topped a seven-year old mark at the time. Tipton has been a part of the record-setting team twice in a row now.

The 4X100m team took 0.46 seconds off its time from its only other competitive race in that event this year. Inclement weather has factored into the Eagles' schedule as the 4X100m team raced for back-to-back weeks for the first time this season at the Florida State Relays and this weekend.

Georgia Southern added the Spec Towns National Team Invitational at the University of Georgia to its schedule giving the Eagles one last opportunity to compete before the conference championships. Events for Georgia Southern begin on Friday, April 11th.
