4X100m Relay Posts Second-Fastest Time in Program History

Fourteen personal bests recorded at Spec Towns Invitational on Day two

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Southern's 4X100m Relay team ran a 45.42 for the second-fastest time in the program's history.  Alyssa Felton, Jasmin Walker, Aarian Tipton and Jordan Fordham were .02 seconds faster than the previous No. 2 time, getting closer to breaking the 45.05 record from 2007. Tipton ran the Eagles' third-best time with a 24.10 in the 200 meter Dash and is in the top 10 for the 100m Dash.

In addition to Tipton, Walker and Fordham took fifth, seventh and eighth in the 200m Dash with four Eagles recording personal bests in that event. Three more personal bests fell in the 100m Dash with Fordham and Tipton in the top 10 with times of 11.83 and 11.85, respectively. Those times rank them sixth and seventh, respectively, on Georgia Southern's all-time list for that event.

In all,14 personal bests were registered Saturday.

"We performed very well and while not everything went perfectly and there are still things that we need to work on, we were really focused," said Georgia Southern Head Coach Marlo Mincey. "This was a high-quality meet and it gave us a good indication of what we can do. As we get ready for conference championships, there just some small things we need to work on and tweak."

Five of the personal bests came in the Hurdles with Deanna Edwards, Lauren Toomer and Taylor Johnson all improving in the 400m Hurdles. The Eagles dominated in the 100m Hurdles with five placing in the top 10 as Dana Edwards and Toomer were second and third, respectively. Dana Edwards and Rasheed both set PRs in the event.

Freshman Asha Stegall finished in the top 10 at eighth in the 400m Dash with two PRs, by Dana Edwards and Sadia Yansenah, coming out of that event. Toomer narrowly missed her PR in the 100m Hurdles and Felton had a solid performance in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.84m (19'2.00") for seventh place. The wind-aided mark, however, cannot be considered a personal best.

Georgia Southern steps away from competition and prepares for its final Southern Conference Outdoor Championships at the end of this month.
