Jasmin Walker and the Eagles' 4X400m Relay team posted times in their events Saturday at the FSU Relays that would rank them among the nation's best.
Dana Edwards ran a 1:01.13 to move up a spot on Georgia Southern's all-time list for the 400 meter Hurdles to fourth. She also ran the lead leg on the Eagles' 4x400m Relay that now ranks third-best all-time. Walker posted two personal bests on Saturday with her 11.77 in the 100m Dash in the 200m Dash where she finished seventh among collegians. That mark tied her for the fourth-best time in Georgia Southern history.
"We wanted to take advantage of such a fast track and get those fast times," said Head Coach Marlo Mincey. "It was great to see us accomplish what were set out to do this weekend. We have more work ahead, but we'll have a lot of confidence going into our next meets. We had a few Eagles who were involved in a lot of events this weekend, and we were definitely not fresh, but we ran well."
In the first test for the Eagles in this event this outdoor season,
Dana Edwards, Sherril McFarlane,
Kimberly Thomas and
Asha Stegall closed the meet with a 3:42.40 in the 4X400m Relay. Today's time was the first to crack the program's top five since the record was set in 2007.
Georgia Southern finished the weekend with 24 individual personal bests, 12 on each day. The Eagles travel next to Jacksonville, Fla., for the UNF Spring Break Invitational Friday and Saturday, March 28-29.
