MONTGOMERY, AL.- Georgia Southern women's tennis has three matches in a row starting tomorrow, February 7th, against Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Auburn.
"The team is looking forward to their first road trip of the season," said head coach Amy Bonner. "We have three non-conference opponents to face this weekend that will help us prepare for SoCon competition later on this spring. What we really need right now is match play and the experience we will gain this weekend will hopefully allow the team to make some adjustments after our opening match against Presbyterian. The team has been working hard over the last few weeks and I'm excited for them to have the chance to compete against Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and a strong SEC opponent such as Auburn."
Last time out, the Eagles defeated Presbyterian 7-0 at the Wallis Tennis Center. Senior
Paola Garrido defeated Greer Ransom in a tiebreaker (6-0, 7-6(2), 10-5), and
Jordana Klein was victorious against Patricia Alves (6-1, 6-0). Eagles
Daria Vasekina,
Stephanie Woods,
Mary Phillips Smith, and
Giulia Riepe all notched wins as well.
The Eagles face Alabama A&M Friday, February 7th at 1pm, Alabama State on Saturday, February 8th at 10am, and Auburn on Sunday, February 9th at 11am.
